My work focuses on taking a detailed eye to things both familiar and novel, breaking up and redefining what I observe in my subjects. Inspired by relationships between people, nature, and the places we inhabit, I work to utilize a love of color, graphic linework and articulated brushstrokes to create movement and narrative using elaborate detail and thoughtful decoration. My desire to play and experiment with my mediums and subjects results in an explorative and ranging body of styles and works.

— Alex Hochberg

Alex was born in Maryland and has spent most of her life living in New Hampshire and later, Massachusetts. As a young girl, she spent time learning watercolor painting & quilting from her great-grandmother, Marilyn and continued to pursue the arts from there.

After graduating from the New England School of Art & Design at Suffolk University in 2016 with a BFA in Illustration and Graphic Design, Alex has continued to work in creative fields alongside her painting to integrate her multiple passions in the art and design world. Her work has developed over time through channeling her obsessive attention to details both as a form of self-expression and therapy.

Working out of her home studio in Boston, she most recently released a new line of apparel based on her collection of work, ‘Mythos’.
